Four men suspected of involvement in the killing of a policeman in Rangoon’s Hlaing Tharyar Township were apprehended on Thursday.
Police Staff-Sergeant Ye Thiha was fatally stabbed in the chest on 8 September during a neighbourhood watch programme around Nawaday Garden Housing Estate when officers spotted four men they regarded as suspicious-looking lurking in a street. When they stopped the men for questioning, one of them pulled a knife and stabbed Ye Thiha. The four were then able to flee the scene.
The officer was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to the wound the following morning.
