At least seven coalminers were killed in Minbu, Magway Region, on Monday afternoon when a pipe carrying oxygen into a tunnel exploded, collapsing the mine.
Six workers were rescued from the rubble and are currently receiving treatment. Two of the six are Chinese nationals.
The bodies of two miners were recovered on Monday evening and another four yesterday. A seventh body was recovered today.

One more miner remains in the pit, his condition as yet unknown.
“Rescue teams are working to retrieve the remaining miner,” said Aung Myo Hein of Minbu police force, speaking to DVB earlier today.
