Since the 2021 military coup, Myanmar people have reverted to calling March 27 Anti-Fascist Resistance Day – after that fateful day in 1945 when the Burma Army began its resistance to Japanese occupation – as opposed to the military’s Armed Forces Day, which takes place in Naypyidaw with a parade displaying its weapons each year. This is a battlefield update with the latest information from resistance forces nationwide.
