About half of Haymawon market in Rangoon’s South Okkalapa township was destroyed by a fire on Tuesday morning.

An official from the suburb’s fire department said the blaze started around 1:20am in the morning and was extinguished at about 3am. The fire destroyed about 800 shop stalls.

Officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
