Police in Burma’s eastern Shan state say that up to 75 people may have been killed in the 6.8-magnitude earthquake that struck close to Tarlay, around 100 kilometres north of Thailand’s Chiang Rai at around 8.30pm local time on 24 March. One woman was confirmed dead in the Thai border town of Mae Sai, while tremors were felt as far away as Hanoi and Bangkok.
