Hpakent counts the human cost of jade mining

The clean up from the devastating landslide in Hpakent is underway, as the death toll continues to climb.

Rescue workers had recovered 113 bodies by Monday 5pm (local time) with around 100 people still missing.

The cause of the landslide remains unclear but mining deaths are common across Kachin State with workers facing long hours and hazardous conditions.
