Military claims accidental blast killed 29 in Kachin State

The military claims that an ammonium nitrate storage facility belonging to the Kachin Independence Army (KIA/KIO) was to blame for an explosion that killed 29 civilians and destroyed 168 homes on Oct. 9. But the KIA spokesperson Colonel Naw Bu rejected this claim and stated that an investigation is underway to provide evidence of how the military carried out its attack on these civilians.
