The Human Rights Documentation Team of the deposed National League for Democracy (NLD) party reported on Saturday that at least 6,507 citizens have been killed by the Myanmar military since the February 1, 2021 coup.
The statement detailed ongoing systemic human rights abuses, including the denial of medical care to detainees, home burnings, the use of civilians as human shields, and widespread looting.

Despite being officially dissolved by the regime in 2023 for refusing to re-register under the Union Election Commission (UEC), the NLD continues to collect human rights violation data from underground and exiled networks.

The NLD report emphasized the devastating impact of aerial warfare on civilian communities, noting that 827 Myanmar Air Force airstrikes account for 1,958 of the documented civilian deaths.

The majority of the NLD’s senior leadership remains imprisoned or under severe isolation in house arrest, including State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi and President Win Myint.
