Displaced families have crammed themselves into a Buddhist monastery in Lashio, northern Shan State, after fierce fighting between the Burmese army and Shan rebels forced them to flee their homes.
One hundred and twenty kilometres from Lashio, Burmese forces are bombing the positions of the Shan State Army-North in the town of Mongshu.
Around 100 people, including many small children, are sheltering in the impromptu relief centre.
As the war continues around them, there is no telling when they will be able to return home.
