NUG broadcaster to launch ‘PVTV International’ in English language

Public Voice Television (PVTV), the broadcast wing of Myanmar’s National Unity Government (NUG), has announced it will soon launch an English-language news service named “PVTV International” to expand coverage of Myanmar to an international audience.

PVTV said the service would provide news, analysis and video reports on Myanmar’s political and military developments, including “the Spring Revolution.”

The NUG reported in 2025 that PVTV content was shared through a network of 382 social media pages and distributed via satellite television services operated by DVB and Mizzima.

“The channel will deliver accurate, verified reporting, analysis, and video coverage for the global community,” PVTV announced in a press release on Oct. 26, without adding a launch date for its new service.

PVTV began broadcasting online in April 2021, shortly after the February military coup. It produces daily news and current affairs programmes, as well as video content for NUG ministries and resistance groups.

On YouTube, PVTV has amassed 806,000 subscribers. On Telegram, it has 11,848.

This announcement from PVTV comes less than one year after Radio NUG, an online and shortwave radio service established by the NUG Ministry of Information in 2021, ceased broadcasting due to funding challenges.

Radio NUG broadcast daily news programming in at least 12 ethnic languages of Myanmar and stated in November 2025 that financial constraints had forced it off air after three years of broadcasting.

Since 2021, more than 60 Myanmar media outlets have operated from exile, according to Reporters Without Borders.

Declining international funding has put growing pressure on exile Myanmar media, with some outlets forced to scale back or suspend operations.
