Burma’s Academy Awards were held in Rangoon on Sunday, honouring 18 of the 30 films released between 2014 – 2015.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Aung Ko, the Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture, urged the film industry to work with the government on the path to democracy and federalism. National League for Democracy party leader and government minister Aung San Suu Kyi sent a pre-recorded message to the event, congratulating Burma’s film sector on their hard work and expressing hope that the fast-paced introduction of technology would boost the production value of upcoming movies.
