Burma celebrated its 64th Union Day on 12 February, commemorating the founding of the Union of Burma in 1947. The day was marked bya simple flag hoisting ceremony in the capital Naypyidaw, attended by MPs and the military, while  smaller ceremonies were held across Burma and amongst the country’s exiled communities.
