Burmese woman wanted in Thailand for husband’s murder

A Burmese migrant woman is wanted in Thailand for allegedly murdering her husband.

According to information provided by a neighbour, the suspect, 56-year-old Daw Pain, and the victim, Min Htet Soe, 32, were drinking together in a farm hut in the village of Mae Ku, near the Thai border town Mae Sot, when they started arguing and she hacked him to death with a machete.

The victim sustained fatal slash wounds to his head, chin and back. The suspect then allegedly covered the body under a mattress for two days before dumping it in a ravine to the east of the farm and hiding it under a pile of garbage.

The neighbour, identified as Ma Nilar, said the suspect told her about what she did before disappearing. Ma Nilar contacted the Thai police and Burmese migrant worker assistance groups who recovered the victim’s body on Wednesday morning.

The suspect and the victim are residents of the village of Tawpi in Pegu Division’s Nyaunglebin Township.
