A fundraising concert for northern Shan State’s Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) – impacted by war – was held at Nang Shole Shan Restaurant (Trid Ring) in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on Nov. 6. It was organized by the Tai Youth Humanitarian Assistance Committee (TYHAC).
“Many IDPs still cannot return home, and many are still left waiting to return. Some houses were completely destroyed, requiring massive efforts for reconstruction and rehabilitation. Furthermore, there are many civilians injured by stepping on landmines,” said Ying Mwe Lyan from TYHAC.
The fundraising concert included performances from ‘A Sai’ of the Blackhole band, Htyan Khay, and Shan singers Nan Waan Lee and Sai Sai Lin, and the DM.CNX Band. All proceeds from the concert will be sent directly to IDP communities in northern Shan State.
