Echoes in Motion at Suan Anya in Chiang Mai, Thailand

A performance by Thai artist Teerawat Mulvilai (KA-GE) called Echoes in Motion was held at Suan Anya, the Northern People Historical Museum, Aug. 2-3. It brought together emerging artists trained in physical theatre with no spoken dialogue. The performance uses body movement to depict themes of control, fear, and resistance.

“I think the storytelling can be [body] language,” Teerawat Mulvilal (KA-GE) told DVB. “The audience can see what the character is feeling without seeing. The body can always tell. Sometimes you’re nervous. Sometimes you’re curious. Sometimes you believe.”

The event was co-hosted by Kon Lakhon Club, Lanyim Theatre, and the Chiang Mai Performing Arts Festival. Performers included students from the Faculty of Mass Communications at Chiang Mai University (CMU).
