Supporters mark Daw Suu's birthday

Jun 19, 2008 (DVB), Supporters of detained National League for Democracy leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi in Burma have been making offerings and holding events to mark her 63rd birthday which falls today.

A meal offering to three monks in Zee Gone township in Bago division was held in advance at NLD campaigning wing member U Aye Ko’s house yesterday to mark the party leader's birthday.

"We held this event to show respect and appreciation for our leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi on her 63rd birthday," Aye Ko said.

The event was attended by several township NLD leaders and members as well as local residents.

An event at NLD headquarters in Rangoon today where supporters released 63 birds as they wished for Daw Aung San Suu Kyi's freedom was disrupted by members of the Union Solidarity and Development Association and Swan Arr Shin.
