  • “The military-formed union election commission(UEC) attempts to have acknowledgement of their legitimacy from the political parties,” said Sai Leik, General Secretary of Shan Nationalities League for Democracy (SNLD), regarding the meeting with the political parties in Myanmar, invited by the military-formed UEC.
  • Yezin Agricultural University Teachers who are participating in CDM from three universities, Livestock and Medicine and Forestry University were charged under Section 505 (b) of the Penal Code.
  • More than 20 anti-coup protesters in Magway Region have been filed under the newly imposed Criminal Code Section 505-A (c),  according to the Regional police office.
  • Despite police and security forces block all roads around Sule Pagoda in downtown Yangon this morning Feb24, the anti-military coup demonstration continues_protesters sit in front of the Shangri-La Hotel on the corner of Sule Pagoda Road and Bogyoke Road, protesting peacefully.

  • Indonesia Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi has canceled her plan to fly to Myanmar on Thursday, in what would be the first known by a foreign envoy since Feb 1 coup.
  • “Anyone responding to peaceful protests with violence must be held to account,” the G7 foreign ministers,  the group of 7 rich countries, said yesterday(Feb23)  in a joint statement.
  • The candlelight praying ceremonies for those who lost their lives by the military during ongoing anti-coup protests were held in some regions and states such as Sagaing, Magway and Ayeyarwady on the night of February 23. There were a total of 4 people who have been killed by the security forces so far. 
  • 14 staff from the general administration department in Pharuso, Kayah state, were temporarily suspended from their duties on Feb 22, and 5 staff from the Ayeyarwady region Hluttaw office were also suspended on Feb 23.
  • In Mandalay, thousands of locals in Kyimyindine village tract, Amarapura township, protested this morning (Feb 24) against the newly appointed ward/village administrators by the military regime. Across the country, there are a lot of protests against newly appointed  ward or township administrators appointed by the military council.
  • Myanmar’s military-appointed foreign minister U Wunna Maung Lwin visited Thailand on Wednesday for talks on diplomatic efforts by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, according to Thai government sources.
