The regime’s Department of Meteorology and Hydrology reported on Tuesday that two moderate magnitude 5.2 and 6.0 earthquakes struck at a depth of 27-36 miles (44-58 km) at 20-26 miles (32-41 km) west and northwest of Sidoktaya town in Magway Region on Tuesday. Sidoktaya is located 81 miles (130 km) northwest of the region’s capital Magway.
No damage or casualties have been reported by the regime. Its department also announced on Tuesday that a 3.9 magnitude earthquake struck three miles (4.8 km) northwest of Patheingyi Township in Mandalay Region earlier on Tuesday.
The National Unity Government (NUG) reported that a moderate 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck at a depth of 38.3 miles (61.7 km) near Sidoktaya town in Magway Region at 10 p.m. on Tuesday. It also claimed that a 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck at a depth of 42.2 miles (68 km) in Magway 20 minutes later.
Three to four small earthquakes were reported by the department in Myanmar on Feb. 1 and 2.
A 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar, with an epicenter in Sagaing Region, on March 28. It was one of the deadliest in Myanmar’s history, with at least 4,477 people killed, according to DVB data.
The regime death toll from the March 28 quake is 3,773 killed with 653 survivors rescued from the rubble of collapsed buildings.
It has calculated that 48,834 houses, 3,094 monasteries and nunneries, 2,045 schools, 2,171 offices and buildings, 148 bridges, and 5,275 pagodas, were destroyed by the earthquake.
Residents in the Mandalay Region told DVB that they are struggling to recover over the last 10 months since the quake. In Mandalay, the death toll has reached at least 2,916, according to DVB data.
